Michael Giacchino acapara nueve nominaciones en los premios de la IFMCA

La Asociación Internacional de Críticos de Música de Cine (IFMCA) ha hecho públicas las nominaciones a los mejores compositores y trabajos del 2009, con Michael Giacchino a la cabeza, acaparando nueve candidaturas individuales, el mayor número que cualquier compositor haya alcanzado nunca desde que la Asociación comenzó a otorgar sus premios en 2004. Además de las múltiples menciones a su score para la película Up, de Disney Pixar, y la reinvención de Star Trek por parte de J.J. Abrams, Giacchino ha recibido nominaciones por sus scores para la serie televisiva Lost (Perdidos) y el documental Earth Days. Giacchino es también candidato al premio a Compositor del Año, junto a Alexandre Desplat, James Horner, Christopher Young y Brian Tyler.

Tanto Up como Star Trek han sido nominadas a Banda Sonora del Año, junto con Avatar, de James Horner; Drag Me to Hell (Arrástrame al infierno), de Christopher Young. Ambos scores están empatados este año en cuanto a número de candidaturas con cuatro cada uno. New Moon (Luna nueva), de Alexandre Desplat, es el quinto trabajo nominado.

En la categoría de Compositor Revelación, la IMFCA ha nominado a los siguientes: Henry Jackman (Monsters vs Aliens), Abel Korzeniowski(A Single Man y Battle for Terra), James Peterson (The REd Canvas), Clinton Shorter (District 9) y Austin Wintory (Captain Abu Raed, Grace, Make the Yuletide Gay).

Las nominaciones de la IFMCA, que cuenta con miembros de todo el mundo, reflejan a perspectiva global de la Asociación. Nominados internacionales incluyen la última película de Alejandro Amenábar, Agora, con banda sonora del galardonado con el Oscar Dario Marianelli; la película semiautobiográfica de Giuseppe Tornatore Baarìa, con música de Ennio Morricone; el score del compositor australiano Christopher Gordon para Mao's Last Dancer, de Bruce Beresford, sobre el bailarín Li Cunxin; el documental español Garbo: El espía, con banda sonora de Fernando Velázquez, y el trabajo de Zacarías Martínez de la Riva para Imago Mortis, nominado en la categoría de Mejor Banda Sonora de Terror/Thriller.

La IFMCA anunciará los ganadores de sus VI Premios Anuales el 26 de febrero de 2010.
